BALTIMORE, MARYLAND—Premier Concrete is working in concert with Lewis Contractors and Ziger/Snead Architects to renovate and reconstruct the stone house landmark in Druid Hill Park in Baltimore, Maryland. After almost two decades of vacancy, the stone house was falling apart. The roof collapsed, the stone walls were deteriorating and tree branches were growing through the windows. Premier Concrete was engaged to assist in the rehabilitation of the historic stone mansion.

The Parks & People Foundation seeks to create a community center at Druid Hill Park to provide educational, environmental and recreational programs, neighborhood meetings and special events. The board of Parks & People approved $12 million to reclaim the stone house and the surrounding 9 acres. Parks & People have a lease on the site for 55 years, and the organization plans to move their headquarters from the Stieff Silver Building to the land surrounding the Druid Hill Park mansion.

Premier Concrete President, Jim Workmeister, says, “It is a pleasure to work with such an experienced project team on the stone house landmark in Druid Hill Park. This project is another example of the Premier team helping shape Baltimore’s remarkable landscape.”

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND—Premier Concrete executives, Jim and Steve Workmeister, are pleased to announce they are now hiring additional project foremen and concrete form carpenters due to the significant growth of their company.

Premier Concrete is currently managing a number of ongoing projects, and the list continues to grow. One major renovation project for Premier Concrete is the former Rouse Building in Columbia, MD; this structural concrete job will convert a previous office complex into a Whole Foods grocery store and Columbia Association gym. In Aberdeen, MD, Premier is providing the concrete work for new military houses for Corvias Military Living at Aberdeen Proving Ground; including installing a community pool house and mechanical building. Premier is also in the process of building a new addition for Maryland School for the Blind located in Baltimore, MD.  Premier bases its continued success on the company’s ability to help each client achieve their unique project goals.

Premier Concrete has partnered with Bel Air, Maryland’s Fallston Group (www.FallstonGroup.com) to further enhance their communications and marketing efforts. Since the launch of a newly updated website in the fall of 2012, Premier has noticed an increase in project sales. The new website enables key stakeholders to learn more about the remarkable history of the company, view highlighted projects, gain insight into Premier’s culture, and facilitates requests for project bids, among other relevant attributes. The Fallston Group will continue to enhance Premier’s website through SEO, content development, and video production.

Fallston Group Principal, Rob Weinhold, says, “Working with the Premier team is always a wonderful experience. Not only am I so very impressed by the longevity of this family-owned company (more than 25 years in business), it is amazing how many in the industry praise its leaders for their commitment to quality and unwavering honesty. In an industry where trust can be an issue, it is clear Premier has built their reputation on integrity, a foundation which stands firm today.”

The website will be used as a platform to support Premier Concrete’s operating needs moving forward, chief among those needs is the immediate hiring of additional foremen and form carpenters. Steve Workmeister says these individuals must be team leaders who have a thorough understanding of the concrete business; they must be able to read, understand, and build concrete forms from blueprints. Additionally, the foremen must be able to effectively manage their work crews, maintain site equipment, order supplies and coordinate seamlessly with sub-contractors.  They must also be able to communicate effectively with clients and maintain the highest standards of construction site safety.
